Alice in Wonderland make sure you are ready from the moment you step into the auditorium as you are greeted by a wonderful and detailed set that sets the scene perfectly for the show. Following which they play a very fitting and funny pre show announcement that was well thought through.
Penny Farrow (Writer) ensures the storytelling in Alice in Wonderland is very fitting to the story, with the show being narrated by multiple characters as it goes on. On top of this the Direction and Design by Nate Bertone, such as the set design and use of special effects that help make it the whole show feel complete.
Alongside this the Choreography, by Co-Director & Movement Director Eva Sampson, danced by the ensemble is used perfectly to make the audience understand what is happening in the show throughout.
One of the standout areas for me was the incredible use of props, puppets and puppetry done by the performers, this really stood out to me, with Chris Barlow's Puppets becoming part of Farrow's storytelling to keep the audiences engaged.
Ailsa Erskine in the lead as Alice does an excellent job at making Alice come to life with a very playful and cute version of the character.
Sky Hallam and Sophie Wilkinson playing Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum have amazing stage chemistry and do a great job at bringing comedy into the show.
On top of that Daniel Page as the Queen of Hearts was another absolute stand out by playing the Queen as a very charismatic storybook type of Villain and the whole audience found themselves laughing in most of the Queens scenes.
Another comedic standout within the show was the various references to pop culture as well as musical theatre that are sprinkled throughout the show to surprise you.
A great addition to the show was seeing some of the characters interact with the front rows and children present, which is a great way to keep the audience engaged, especially with a younger audience.
Alice in Wonderland is the perfect show for any family to go and see, as well as any adults that love the original story of Alice in Wonderland and want a good enjoyable show with plenty of comedy throughout.
Overall this is a great adaptation of Alice in Wonderland by Penny Farrow, and I would recommend to check it out!
