TW/CW: Strong language, Reference to Self harm / suicide, Sexual references, Death, Mention of Violence

We had the chance to see a workshop reading performance of this new musical as this is a workshop the show is not open to formal reviews, but here is a little taste of what’s to come from this new musical…

If the musical theatre world needed a new iconic show, Cliffs is here to respond to this demand. The first ever rehearsed workshop reading took place at The Other Palace and it was an absolute blast, Cliffs is written and composed by Elan Butler.

Director Dean Johnson opened the show by saying that they have been working on it for five days and this is the official first launch, the first time that the whole show happened, on stage, in front of an audience, in The Studio of The Other Palace Theatre.

With a mix of folk and hip-hop, the cast is keeping a high and light energy throughout the story of Teddy Thomas who has mysteriously gone missing after a party in the posh guy house. Weird, no? Teddy is then traveling between the other side and the “real world”, with the help of the Angel of Death, who has a strong façade of authority and control, but Teddy manages to reach her and crack her shell.

All of the characters are connected to Teddy, in different ways. With all of them researching, grieving and also feeling guilty…with the cause of Teddy’s death which will leave you speechless!

Are you ready to meet the Angel of Death? To follow Teddy Thomas between the two worlds? If yes, as it is a work in progress, the production does need help. They are seeking producers, venues, directors, creatives and investors to partner with them and take Cliffs to the next level. Their aim is the World Premiere production in 2026.

We hope to see this show performed in the West End, as it has so much potential, it is well written and performed without a whole complete production, we can already picture its posters all around London and the queue in front of the biggest London theatres.
