LoveTheatre Week is Back! where you can find some new and favourite shows, from the 9th - 18th of May, with no booking fees on all theatre, dance, opera and musical productions for selected performance dates from 9 May – 13 July 2025. Here are a selection of the top 10 must-see plays and musicals that we think you should book this during LoveTheatre week.


1 - Stranger Things: The First Shadow

Fans of the Netflix hit series can now experience the origins in this stage show adaption playing at London's Phoenix Theatre. Stranger Things: The First Shadow tells the story of origins of the hit Netflix series and has won awards the 2024 Oliviers including 'Best New Play', 'Best Set Design' and 'Best New Entertainment and comedy' while the show recently opened on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre with also receiving 19 major award nominations including 5 Tony Awards® nominations. 2 - Starlight Express

Andrew Lloyd Webber's train musical is back. Yes train musical. Lloyd Webber Brings the story of a child's train set coming to life who race to be the fastest. Currently playing in the specially designed immersive space called the 'Starlight auditorium' at Trobadour Wembley Park Theatre, the show won 'Best Musical Revival' at this years WhatsOnStage Awards and 'Best Costume Design' at this year Oliviers Awards, immersed from the moment you enter the theatre and your head will be turning from start to finish from catching all the action around you and excited by all casts roller skating skills.



3 - Mean Girls

It's so Fetch! Tina Fey's comedy is now a stage musical currently playing at the Savoy Theatre on London's Strand Mean Girls is a show full of pink, that brings the 2004 film to the stage, the show has announced that it will close on the 8th of June but will tour across the UK next year with more info and venues to be announced...so stay tuned.



4 - The Mousetrap

Like a good thriller? well Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap could be for you. The Show is the Longest running play in the world now its 73rd year at The St. Martins Theatre, the show has no signs of stopping as it continues to welcome audiences 9 times a week, the show brings Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery to the stage.



5 - MJ the Musical

The Broadway and West End smash-hit jukebox musical MJ currently in its second year in the West End playing at the Prince Edward Theatre, follows behind the scenes of the 1992 Dangerous tour, this biopic musical is jam-packed with your favourite Michael Jackson numbers, energetic choreography and great performances, MJ has won multiple Awards, with 4 Tony Awards® including Best Choreography and this year winning Best Theatre Choreography at this year Olivier Awards, this is a musical that is sure to get you to have a great time.


6 - Mrs. Warren's Profession

Olivier Award winner Imelda Staunton and her real-life daughter Bessie Carter come together on stage from Saturday 10th of May in this revival of Mrs. Warren's Profession, this is a newly edited production by Dominic Cooke and plays a strictly limited run until 16th of August.



7 - Burlesque

After two runs in Manchester and Edinburgh the anticipated West End transfer of the stage adaption of the film with the 2010 film starring Cher and Christina Aguilera will play at the Savoy theatre for a limited-run from the 10th of July, with recently announced Todrick Hall becoming director and Choreographer for this London run, Burlesque has music by Christina Aguilera, Sia, Todrick Hall and Jess Folley and book written by Steven Antin.



8 - Back To The Future - The Musical

Back to the Future is the 3 time Best New Musical winner in 2022 (Olivier Awards, WhatsOnStage and Broadway World) based on the hit 1985 film, the show has a book Bob Gale and new music and lyrics by Award-winner Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film including The Power of Love and Johnny B. Goode. The show has also broken the Adelphi Theatre box office records with over 1.6 million people.



9 - A Midsummers Night Dream

Summers coming so why not see a bit of Shakespeare, William Shakespeare's A Midsummers night dream plays at the Bridge Theatre this immersive production has not just got seated seats but also standing ones, and was first seen back in 2019, performances begin 31st of May.



10 - Wicked

Ever want to know what happened before the Wizard of Oz? well now you can in this stage musical. Wicked is the 10th longest running West End musical playing at Apollo Victoria Theatre. With part 2 Wicked: For good, the majorly anticipated movie adaption of the stage show starring Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey coming to cinemas this year, this musical is much loved by many theatre fans old and new.
